The essence of the law of attraction is this: think good things, and good things will come to you. Is this just more self-help psychobabble? Or can it really be true? Many people wonder if the law of attraction isn’t really a law at all, just something in your head that you fool yourself into believing. Is the law of attraction just a form of overconfidence?
First, let’s get it straight that confidence and the law of attraction are definitely related. While they’re not the same thing, they work together a lot of the time. When you have desires for more money, love, or success, you need to believe that you’ll get it.
Otherwise all sorts of conflicting messages will be bouncing around in your head: “but if I don’t get that promotion…”, “of course I may fail at this…”, or my personal favorite “I’ve got to have a Plan B in case what I want doesn’t happen…” That’s just setting yourself up for failure, even if it is subconscious.
To really practice the law of attraction, you’ve got to believe in it and believe in yourself. Of course you’ll get the promotion you’ve been aiming for. Of course you will succeed. Of course you can have what you want happen to you. The attraction of universal laws doesn’t work in “maybes.”
Manifesting and Conscious Creation work because the universe pairs you up with what you ask for. How do you ask the universe for something? By thinking it. The sum total of your words, thoughts, and actions is what you’re asking the universe.
So whatever you think about, that is what you’re bringing to yourself by the law of attraction. If you have negative “what if” thoughts dwelling in the back of your mind, that’s what you’re bringing to yourself. That’s what you’re asking the universe for. The only way to attract what you really want out of life, whether it’s a new car or a better love life or something else, is to think it 100%, no reservations.
You can see that confidence does have a lot to do with the law of attraction. But that isn’t all there is to it. You can be confident all day long and still not receive what you’re hoping to get. There’s another component to the law of attraction.
You’ve got to harmonize yourself with the universe. You aren’t going to attract the things you want if you attract a negative energy. You’ve got to forgive old grudges, extend forgiveness, avoid unkind thoughts, and become a happy, emotionally healthy person. This is probably the hardest part of the law of attraction, the part that stands in the way for most people who want to try it. But it’s absolutely essential. The Universal LoA doesn’t work any other way.
Though they’re related, the law of attraction is a lot more than just confidence or an extreme case of overconfidence. Manifesting your desires with the attraction techniques start with confidence but it isn’t complete until you’ve harmonized and centered yourself with the universe.
